2011 Australian Championship Awarded To Lismore
Ben Graham posted Wednesday January 27, 2010.

Dirt Modified’s Australia have announced that the Lismore Speedway will be the venue for the 2010/11 Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship. The event will be staged over the Australia-day weekend (January 21 & 22) and is expected to attract a record field.

Dirt Modified’s Australia President Paul Britten confirmed the Title allocation following the mid-term meeting of the Dirt Modified’s Australia Executive in Brisbane earlier this month.

“Lismore Speedway has been one of the biggest supporters of V8 Dirt Modified’s over the past 10 years and we are happy to see he event going to the track which has supported the division the most in NSW”

The 2011 event will be the first Australian V8 Dirt Modified Championship staged at the Lismore Speedway since current Promoter David Lander took the reign’s three season’s ago and the veteran Promoter is looking forward to staging the biggest event on the V8 Dirt Modified calendar.

“ We’ll put our usual razzmatazz into it” confirmed Lander this week. “There will be a social event on the Friday night and we will be racing on the Saturday and Sunday of the Australia day weekend”

V8 Dirt Modified’s are a major drawcard at the Lismore speedway, with the local area having a proud history of producing Australian Champions in the division. Father and son duo Steve and Mark Robinson, Stuart Herne and Andrew Pezzutti all have their names engraved upon the Australian Championship trophy.

“ There is no such thing as a club show here any more, they are all ‘Blue Ribbon’ events”, said Lander. “ V8 Dirt Modified’s always put on great racing here at Lismore and I am sure when there is an Australian Title on the line the intensity will ratchet up a notch or two”

Paul Britten confirmed that interstate drivers are already planning their season’s around the Title in Lismore.

“I’ve spoken to allot of people already who are all very keen to contest the Title in Lismore. I think we have set new standards for out Australian Championship after this years event in Brisbane and I expect that the NSW Club will get right behind the event and raise the bar again”.

The Australian Championship was last staged in Lismore in 2006, with Victorian driver Tim Morse victorious on that occasion.
